Matt and Gloss, after whom this company is named, are actually the two cats pictured above. Matt & Gloss photography, however, is based in Burnham-on-Crouch and was started by Colin Aiken BA (Photo Arts) in 2001. Credits Before that he was a Camera Supervisor for the BBC, based at Television Centre in West London. Unless you have never seen any BBC programs, you will probably have seen his work (and possibly his name, if you watched the credits). During the 80's and 90's he worked with many television stars and celebrities on most of the mainstream BBC programs (EastEnders, Top of the Pops, Blue Peter etc.). Royal Television Society Latterly, he worked on mostly comedy shows including Harry Enfield and Chums, The Thin Blue Line, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and I'm Alan Partridge (for which his work was nominated for a Royal Television Society award). His many years of experience, skill and professional conduct in a live television environment may bring a slightly different approach to the work of the average local photographer. Heart Despite the long television career, Colin is a photographer at heart and has been ever since he got his first camera at the tender age of eleven. He was a fully qualified professional photographer before he joined the BBC. He moved from his native Glasgow to London to study for his photography degree and continued working in stills photography throughout his BBC career. Although much of this work was not commissioned, it did lead to a few exhibitions in London galleries. Original idea The idea for the company was first mooted by his wife, Gillian, who loves babies and anything to do with weddings. Her encyclopaedic knowledge of all things bridal has proved invaluable to many of our satisfied customers. Standards Our purpose is to bring the highest standards of quality and professionalism, together with 21st century technology to the long standing and honourable profession of your friendly neighbourhood photographer. Tuition and Advice Colin also offers tuition on any photographic subject, still or video, digital or otherwise and is happy to offer free advice to anyone who is having difficulty with this subject. |
